Algoritma MD Composer — Terms of Use
This English text is a translation for convenience. If the Turkish and English versions differ, the Turkish version prevails.
1. Scope and acceptance
These terms apply to downloading, running and using the Algoritma MD Composer software (the single-file and folder editions together, the “Software”) offered free of charge by Algoritma Reklam İletişim Bilgisayar Eğitim San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. (the “Company”).
The Software may only be downloaded from the Company’s website (www.algoritmayazilim.com) after accepting these terms. The download page does not allow the download until the “I have read and accept the Terms of Use” box is ticked. By ticking the box and downloading the Software you accept these terms. Running or using the Software also means you accept them.
If you do not accept the terms, do not download the Software; if you have downloaded it, do not use it and delete it from your computer. If you download the Software on behalf of an organisation, you declare that you are authorised to accept these terms on its behalf.
2. Licence to use
The Software is free. Provided you comply with these terms, the Company grants you a free, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the Software for personal and business purposes. You may run it on your own computers and, if downloaded on behalf of an organisation, on that organisation’s computers for its employees, as many times as you like.
The Company claims no rights in the PDF, Word and HTML files you create with the Software or in their content; you may use and share those files as you wish.
You may not:
- Share the Software or a copy of it with third parties, or publish or distribute it on another website, file-sharing service, software archive or any other medium. Anyone who wants the Software must download it from the Company’s website after accepting these terms. You may share the address of the download page instead of the Software itself. If you downloaded the Software on behalf of an organisation, copying it to that organisation’s own computers for its employees’ use is not covered by this restriction.
- Sell or rent the Software or charge a fee for it.
- Modify the Software, use or distribute a modified version, or offer it as part of another product. This restriction does not cover the rights that the licences of the open-source components listed in section 3 give you.
- Remove or change the Company name, logo, copyright or licence notices in the Software.
These restrictions do not limit the rights that applicable law grants to anyone who lawfully obtains the Software and that cannot be excluded by contract (such as the rights under Article 38 of Turkish Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works).
3. Rights and open-source components
All rights in the Software and in the Algoritma name and logo belong to the Company. These terms do not transfer those rights to you; they only grant the licence in section 2.
The Software includes open-source components distributed under their own licences, including the Qt and PySide6 libraries licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License 3.0 (LGPL-3.0). The list of these components, their copyright notices and licence texts are on the Third-Party Licences page. Those licences govern the respective components; the restrictions in these terms do not limit the rights those licences give you (including the right under LGPL-3.0 to modify those libraries and to use the Software with modified libraries).
For anyone who wants to use the libraries covered by the LGPL-3.0 with modified versions, a folder edition of the Software in which these libraries are separate files can be downloaded free of charge from the download page after accepting these terms.
4. Provided “as is”, no warranty
The Software is provided “as is” and “as available”. The Company gives no express or implied warranty that the Software will work without errors or interruption, will run on every computer and software environment, will display every Markdown file correctly, is fit for a particular purpose, or that the PDF, Word and HTML files it creates will look exactly like the preview.
Word documents are created directly by the Software; Microsoft Word does not need to be installed on your computer. How the resulting document looks may vary depending on the program you open it with (Microsoft Word, LibreOffice etc.) and its version. Some image formats that Word does not support cannot be added to Word output as images.
5. Hardware, software and data problems
The Company is not liable for hardware, software or data problems that may arise during or after downloading, running or using the Software, including but not limited to:
- Faults, performance loss or incompatibilities in your computer, peripherals or other hardware.
- Errors, conflicts, crashes or setting changes in your operating system and other software (including Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, PDF viewers and web browsers you open the resulting files with, and security and antivirus software).
- Windows SmartScreen or security / antivirus software blocking the Software, warning about it or quarantining it.
- Corruption, loss or overwriting of your files (including overwriting an existing file of the same name during export), and incomplete or incorrect PDF, Word and HTML files.
- Problems arising from the version, updates, licence or configuration of Windows or of the programs you open the resulting files with.
It is your responsibility to back up important files before using the Software, to try the Software on your own system and to check the files it creates before using them.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Company is not liable for any direct or indirect damage arising from the use of or inability to use the Software, including data loss, business interruption and loss of profit.
This section and section 5 do not apply to damage caused by the Company’s intent or gross negligence, or to other liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Internet connection and personal data
- Only at startup, to find out whether a new version exists, the Software sends its app id and version number to the Company’s website (www.algoritmayazilim.com). No other data is sent with this request, and the Company does not record these requests separately; the standard server logs the website keeps for security are described in the Privacy Policy. If a new version exists, the Software only tells you so; it does not download or install anything by itself. With no internet connection, no check is made.
- There are no licence or activation checks, usage statistics, error reports or advertising.
- If a Markdown document you open contains images added by web address, those images are loaded from that address during preview and export. When you click a link in a document, the address opens in your default web browser. Those websites, not the Company, are responsible for them.
- The Software needs no installation; it installs no other software on your computer and does not change your system settings. In the single-file edition, files it needs while running are unpacked to the temporary folder and deleted when the Software is closed; in the folder edition these files stay in the folder you extracted from the zip.
- The files you open and convert are processed only on your own computer and are not sent to the Company or third parties.
- The Company collects no personal data through the Software.
- The download page asks for no personal details. The download counter only keeps the project, version, language and date; neither your acceptance nor your IP address is stored in it. The standard server logs the website keeps for security, and how the Company processes personal data, are described in the Privacy Policy.
- The Software stores preferences such as interface language, theme, window layout and the paths of recent files and folders only on your computer, in the Windows registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Algoritma\MDComposer. You can clear the recent files list from the File → Recent Files → Clear list menu in the Software.
8. Support and updates
The Company has no obligation to provide support, maintenance or updates. Any new version is also subject to these terms. The Company is not responsible for copies obtained from sources other than its website.
9. Changes
The Company may change these terms. The current text is published on the Company’s website (www.algoritmayazilim.com) and applies to downloads made after its publication.
10. Termination
If you breach these terms, your licence under section 2 ends automatically and without notice; you must then stop using the Software and delete any copies you have.
11. Governing law, jurisdiction and severability
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye.
For disputes between merchants, the courts and enforcement offices of Ankara (Central) have jurisdiction. Consumers may apply to consumer arbitration committees and consumer courts under Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502; statutory consumer rights are reserved.
If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
