Algoritma MD Composer is a free Windows app that shows README files, technical docs and the .md output of AI tools exactly as they are meant to look. It turns any document into a PDF, an editable Word file or HTML in one click, with no installation and no internet connection needed.
WHY
Markdown has become the common language of developers, technical writers and AI tools. Yet open a .md file in Notepad and you get # signs instead of headings, pipes instead of tables and asterisks instead of bold text. When you need to send the same document to a manager, a client or a colleague who does not know Markdown, the formatting is lost, tables fall apart and code blocks become unreadable.
Algoritma MD Composer solves this in a single window. Drag and drop the file and the document appears instantly with its headings, tables, lists and highlighted code. Press the PDF or Word button at the top right and the same document becomes a file anyone can open and read.
FEATURES
Headings, tables, nested and task lists, quotes, footnotes, definition lists and images in a modern page layout. Code blocks are highlighted for more than 500 languages, and each block has a language label and a one-click Copy button.
A print-ready A4 PDF with proper margins. Text stays selectable and searchable, links stay clickable, and headings are never left alone at the bottom of a page. Even in the dark theme the PDF is created with a white, light theme.
A real .docx, not a screenshot: headings use Word’s Heading 1–6 styles, lists are real Word lists, tables repeat their header row on every page, and code blocks are highlighted and framed. Microsoft Word does not need to be installed.
Save the document as a single .html file with local images embedded. The page opens in any browser or can be emailed without an extra folder.
The Contents tab lists headings as a tree and marks the section you are reading. The Files tab shows the Markdown files in the folder you choose, including subfolders.
Links to other .md files open inside the app, and heading links jump straight to that heading. Back and Forward buttons work just like in a browser.
When the file is saved in another program, the preview refreshes on its own and keeps your reading position. Write in your favourite editor and watch the result as you go.
Switch to highlighted raw Markdown with one key. The Find bar works in both the preview and the source; the status bar shows word and character counts and reading time.
Switch the interface language instantly from the button at the top right; your choice is remembered. Turkish characters display correctly in the preview and in PDF and Word output.
An easy-on-the-eyes dark theme, a light theme for bright rooms, or a system theme that follows your Windows setting. On Windows 11 the window title bar follows the theme too.
Zoom from 50% to 300% (Ctrl + mouse wheel works too), full screen, a collapsible sidebar, a right-click menu and a remembered window layout.
A single .exe file (or the folder edition if you prefer): download it and run it, it even runs from a USB stick. Recent files are listed on the welcome screen, and .md files open by drag and drop.
At startup the app checks whether a new version exists; if so, the toolbar shows “Update available” and opens the download page with one click. Nothing is downloaded automatically; with no internet, the check is silently skipped.
Advanced users can convert without opening the interface, and turn every Markdown file in a folder into a PDF with a single command.

At startup only the app id and version number are sent to algoritmayazilim.com; if a new version exists, the toolbar tells you, and with no internet the check is skipped. There are no ads or usage statistics; images added to a document by web address are loaded from that address.
The preview and all PDF, Word and HTML conversions happen on your computer; your files are never sent to any server.
No personal data is collected; downloading needs no account or email, and the download counter stores neither your acceptance nor your IP address. Preferences such as language, theme and recent files stay in your Windows user account.
Scripts and event handlers embedded in Markdown files are not run in the preview; only the document content is shown.

No. The single-file edition (.exe) runs directly; it unpacks its files to the temporary folder on each launch, so the first launch may take a few seconds. For the folder edition, extract the zip to a folder and run the .exe inside; it starts faster because its files are already unpacked.
To show documents at browser quality and produce high-quality PDFs, the app carries its own Chromium-based rendering engine. That way you get the same result everywhere, even with no other programs installed.
They are the same application, and the single-file edition (.exe) is recommended for most users. In the folder edition the Qt and PySide6 libraries are separate files; it is provided, as the LGPL-3.0 requires, for anyone who wants to use the application with their own modified versions of these libraries. Yes. The Word document is created by the app itself; Microsoft Word or LibreOffice is not needed. You can open the resulting .docx file in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.
Algoritma MD Composer is a viewer and converter. Edit your document in the text editor you are used to (Notepad, Visual Studio Code etc.); the preview updates as soon as you save the file.
No. Whatever the on-screen theme, the PDF is always created with a white, print-friendly light theme.
Word supports only certain image formats. Unsupported formats such as SVG, or web addresses that cannot be reached, are shown with the image’s alt text in Word output. Saving those images as PNG or JPG fixes this; PDF and HTML output have no such limit.
This warning appears because the app is not digitally signed; it does not mean something is wrong. You can verify that the file is unaltered with its SHA-256 value, then open it with More info → Run anyway.
This is a general warning for newly published files. Choose Keep, or Keep anyway, in your browser’s downloads list.

For the single-file edition, delete Algoritma_MD_Composer.exe; for the folder edition, delete the whole folder you extracted from the zip. Your preferences are kept in the Windows registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Algoritma\MDComposer; you can delete that key too if you like.
